I'm giving this "barber" shop a 5 because I don't want to hurt its ratings. I just moved to the area and was looking for a barber - meaning a man ... not a female hair dresser or a barberette or a lady hair dresser. Where I come from, it's very simple: barbers are men and women are stylists ... this clearly avoids any confusion. I'm not saying that women cannot be excellent stylists - clearly there are countless. But when you advertise your building as a "barber" shop but then only employ women, you are misleading the public. In my case, I had to get a haircut that day, and the place was about to close, so when I walked in shortly before closing only to find three lady stylists and not a single barber, it was too late to turn around. Not to say that you build life-long friendships with your barber (which you can - I'm still good friends with my old barber from over 30 years ago), but the male-bonding that takes place is a central part of the whole experience. Obviously you cannot male-bond with a female ... and of course lots of subjects are off-limits; a restriction that diminishes the whole experience. Moreover, mine is a very simple hairdo, which takes a barber with electric clippers around 5 minutes to cut - 8 minutes maximum. In this case, the ordeal lasted forever, and rather than efficiently cutting away, the lady stylist kept caressing my hair with a comb - like 5 strokes with the comb for every actually snip with the scissors. It was excruciatingly protracted, and the result was no better or worse than what I could have gotten at an actual barber shop in 5 minutes. I don't mean to criticize this place (other than the "barber" misnomer); it simply isn't for me. If you're the type of person who prefers paying a little more to sit in the stylist's chair for a lot longer, then this is the place for you. All three ladies are friendly and professional. However, if you're looking for a no-nonsense barber for a commensurately good deal (i.e. $20), then look elsewhere.
Great color by Edie. She is amazing. Tonia gives great cuts. Phenomenal barber shop. Best and hardest workers ever. Walk-in service is available but colors or other hair processing is best to call for an appointment as they stay hopping! Great service and a family feel. I've been going to one or the other for over 25 years. They started super young! ;-) It is also the place I met my husband. They also provide shoulder massages with cuts and straight shaves. Go see 'em and tell them Tosh sent you!!! I don't get a thing but just knowing it's being seen makes me happy!
I timed my visit right and had no wait. The ladies were great and unlike most barbers were able to cut my hair right without having to explain what I wanted done. The location is great for my commute too. They adjusted well to COVID requirements and still do little things to ensure there are no problems. Prices were updated in August.
