A Better You Day Spa

A lovely establishment, not the worse experience but not the best. I’ve been a massage therapist for over 15 years, I know a little of what I’m taking about. It’s definitely weird to not be greeted by someone. I’m not sure what kind of water that was, it didn’t taste like cucumber, it tasted like feet. I feel better than when I came but I don’t feel as good as I should. The massage therapist I had, it has to be her first month as a therapist because she didn’t know how to do a proper scrub, I paid for a deep tissue and got mostly a Swedish, and although I asked for more pressure, it never came. A ‘scrub’ is in the name, you don’t apply and immediately take off… you apply and do little circle and such to exfoliate the skin, and scrub! It’s literally in the name. I specifically told the lady when I booked that I didn’t want a package, I want the body glow and then the 80 min deep tissue. She said that wouldn’t be a problem. Problem. I thought it was very weird that I could not fully enjoy the scrub or the massage because she did both at the same time. A massage should be flowing, you should only pause as you finish a part of the body and put it back under the sheet. What I got was a okay attempt at a scrub one body part at time followed by the hot towel to clean it off (never off enough) and then the body part would get massaged with the one and only stroke she seemed to know, if you can call it a stroke, she technically didn’t truly complete a stroke, it was all over the place and not all that relaxing. And the strokes she did complete were practically rubbing me raw, she kept doing the same thing on the same muscle 20 flipping times in a row. I kept trying to motion to move on, and she finally would… I’m not sure if I threw her off my starting supine instead of prone but if she was seasoned she would of been able to adjust. Honestly, if unsanitary to start a client face down. You should have clean hands when you do the face, which can only happen if A) you start face up and start with the face or B) if you start face down you massage the whole body and feet, so you will either put dirty feet oil on the face or stop the flow of the massage to was your hands before touching the face. She needs more training. She needs to learn some deep tissue techniques, she needs to learn how to do basic massage techniques such as compression, effleurage, and pétrissage. I think she applied the Thai Balm, can’t be 100 percent sure. And I thought I was supposed to have a special oil at the end to leave my skin luxurious… it didn’t feel all that soft for having a scrub and a 12$ oil upgrade. I feel that the scrub and massage need to be separated, a client should be able to get scrub and cleaned off and then go to the massage, not both at the same time. That’s a cheap play for what I thought I paid extra for to be separate. Guess not… Your place is lovely, not the greatest location but not the worse. I like the products display. It’s great that you have CBD and Delta 8/9 products as well. This place could be amazing if y'all step up your game, get some training in. She reminded of me of myself 15+ years ago… she’ll get there!! Practice makes perfect. It’s not to say that I didn’t feel good after my massage compared to how I walked in, but I wanted to feel amazing…! I was let down. If you go to this spa, don’t get your hopes up for an amazing time, you’ll be let down. If you go in with no hope or little hope then maybe you’ll be impressed. I had my 1st massage here today and I must say, it was great. The young lady Eilese was VERY professional and skilled and I highly recommend her.

Always a great experience at A Better You Day Spa! They are very professional and never make you feel uncomfortable. Would highly recommend!
