Gothic fashion - dark dramatic dresses, vampy makeup and glittering jewels has become mainstream in Hollywood. Designers such as Alexander McQueen, Gaultier, Givenchy and Gareth Pugh are no longer considered shocking or controversial choices for the red carpet. Rooney Mara recently translated the edge afforded to her by playing Lisbeth Salander into a series of strict, black-and-white red carpet looks, always with a dark red or plum lipstick.
